Title
The Triathlete
Wood Sculpture
by Steff Rocknak

(Click here to see original plans)

This piece took about 23 months to complete, including the construction of the backplates and mounting the pieces.

This kind of work demands every bit of
patience that I have, but because I love it, I'm not so sure that 'patience' is the right word.
It doesn't feel like patience.

Date of Completion
July, 2006

Wood
Sculptures: New York State Basswood
Back Plates: Black Walnut

Carving Difficulty
Some of the pieces were easier to carve than others. The Swimmer portion of this piece was the hardest. Getting the backs of the sculptures as even as possible also proved to be somewhat challenging; a joiner was used to smooth down the back of the leg
(I'm not lying).

Size
Sculptures: Slightly larger than life.
Backplates: 24" x 48"
