Steff Rocknak's Runner in progress (summer/fall 2004): page two

In the next four photos, I am only using the angle grinder (I would lay the leg flat on the sawhorses when working with this machine)

Coming in with the chisel now. I decide to carve the shoe last, so I can stand this piece up as long as possible--to both work on it and look at it. The wood is different colors because as I proceed, I am coating it with linseed oil and turpentine. This slowed the checking down somewhat, but be sure to have plenty of ventilation, particularly you migraine people.
